  1. Just been talking to a friend about you and your blog – she’d heard you on the Food Programme and thought you were very interesting. As you’re on the cusp of global fame, maybe you can employ me to be your web moderator, once the transatlantic flights start in earnest!?

On a down to earth note, the other day I picked my first courgette and proudly gave it to friends. Today I picked the second and it’s more like a bonsai version…and there are no more in waiting. The plant has loads of flowers which are doing nothing – I wonder what I’ve done wrong and hope yours are better!

  2. Great post, great video and already shared on Twitter and local North London community site. You are doing great things.

  3. Sorry – forgot to mention – I can also provide cost free support if needed to manage web contact. Let me know if this would help. The reason I am offering is that I truly believe in what you are doing, especially though it was born out of necessity not choice. I want to give my time (in addition to full time job I do not believe in) to something that makes a difference. I am a good administrator, know a bit about finance, am a bit web savvy and can spare some time evenings/weekends.

  4. These burgers look so much more flavoursome than the ones in the supermarkets; I must make some soon! After all the worries of last week I think you came across really well in the video, very honest and natural. Keep doing what you’re doing and don’t change 🙂

  5. Great video, great demo, and great food. It must be daunting suddenly in the glare of publicity, but carry on, Jack. Have confidence. You’re making a difference.

  6. Wow, the burgers look amazing. Will be trying those as I have a can of kidney beans in the cupboard and no idea what to do with them 🙂

Found you from The Guardian video. Good for you doing this! I also live very frugally and it is amazing how little you can live on if you really have to. It’s only then you realize how much money you used to waste on things you didn’t need 🙂

  7. Hi Jack,

I just saw your video on the guardian. Very inspiring!

Also, I was wondering you have heard of freecycle? By joigning your local group you become part of a mailing list, where people post items they no longer want and give them away for free. You can request items too. It’s been a great help to me, last week alone I have received a new bicycle after mine got stolen as well as a new laptop! Could be a good way of getting new clothes and shoes for your little boy I thought.

Anyways, best of luck to you!! 🙂

  8. I thought you came over really well, Jack. Don’t know why you feel you’re awkward in front of a camera – you’re a natural!

  9. You are amazing! I Saw this video on The Guardian website, then made your delicious kidney bean, carrot and cumin burgers. Although food is vastly more expensive here in Jamaica than in the UK they were still incredibly cheap. I hope your book will soon be available for pre-order on Amazon.com, in addition to Amazon.co.uk, and as a kindle download. I intend to buy it. You are an inspiration in more parts of the world than you probably realize. Wishing all the best for you and your book in the future.
