BBC QUESTION TIME
It’s one thing being asked to go on BBC Question Time as the token ‘non politician’ that they like to throw in to mix things up again – it’s another thing entirely making your QT debut on election night, and being seated between the deputy chair of UKIP and a senior Conservative MP.
Anyway, I won’t spoil the surprises: you can watch the episode here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b044mhbd/question-time-22052014

I thought you acquitted yourself very well. You’re not a politician – just honest and that showed. Well done!
Congratulations. How can I watch it outside of the UK?
Another foreigner who’s disappointed I can’t see it. Any chance of someone posting it on You Tube
Don’t think you can watch the BBC iplayer outside the uK.
Great debut, I hope to see you on Question Time again soon!!
Thought you were great on QT. Very intelligent, entertaining and relateable 🙂
I’m 23 and about to get married and am thinking of course about settling down. But similarly to you my instincts are making me want a HOME for my family that I can put my own stamp on and cherish for years to come. I’m not interested in a soulless PROPERTY that makes me unhappy as I cannot afford the repayments I have to pay each month for my entire working life. Living happily with your family or alone should be something working people can look forward to. A regular person’s dream of living happily somewhere shouldnt be something so out of reach in a country with so much money floating around. We just want to make the best of our situation like everyone else.
You were amazing on there, by the way. You spoke brilliantly, and you were absolutely a rose between two thorns. Well done!
Reblogged this on And I'll Remember.
Very tasty, and very easy and quick to make with inexpensive ingredients. Had it with rice and grilled bacon slice!
I thought you were excellent, a reasonable voice on question time for once.
Your a star. Fantastic performance and some very difficult points for the current government to justify, particular the right to by fiasco. Whatever you do don’t become an MP an become nullified by the Westminster ‘club’.
You did good Jack! Stayed up late to listen to you 🙂
Watched it. Cheered you on – well done. You made a lot of sense. As usual!
Congrats!!
I have just watched it, thought you came across very well, the best on the panel!
Well done Jack-sincere and clear. The audience response to you was joyous. All the best to you and your family.
Jack, Ive read your story from start to finish. I so very much hope you would stand to be an MP. I would certainly vote for you. You relate to so many people and how we are having to live or attempt to. You were brilliant on the panel. I’m not impressed by wealth or status or power so never think you did not justify your place.
Well done just watched it having fed my small boy (who didn’t get into any of our chosen primary schools) mackerel fish cakes. Lv the book too. I loathe QT but you acquitted yourself wonderfully. Keep up the good work. Watching you with admiration.
Very impressive. Very well informed on all topics. Eminently sensible opinions expressed superbly and with humour. Much better than many professional politicians I have seen on Question Time.
great debut, keeping it real but respectful
Jack I thought you came across very well because you do your homework, you don’t have a sense of entitlement and you don’t bluff. And how great must it be to see that tagline ‘Jack Monroe- writer and anti poverty campaigner’? I am assuming you didn’t turn up in last night’s miniskirt (re earlier Twitter exchange you had with somebody)…No I am NOT a stalker *grins*
I thought you did a great job on QT, especially when you had to start the response to the very first question. You were well informed on all the topics and answered in an honest and true fashion. Well done!
I was so impressed! Could tell you were nervous yet you killed those questions eloquently. Also very refreshing to hear a sincere public voice above all that rehearsed rhetoric for once. I hope they invite you back. Well done!
Oh Jack you excelled! There IS a house waiting for you…no mortgage required..it has a big clock on the side. Take a look at the recording again…only this time look at the admiration on the faces of the audience following your words of wisdom. They are just waiting to follow you……. One step nearer girl !! 🙂
Well done, you were fine.
HI Jack, I’ve been in a similar situation and I completely understand what you have been through. I think you are lovely. There are not many people to look up to these days but I have a lot of respect for you. You have all my love x
You were ace 🙂
Looks interesting but cannot watch it in Australia – at least not with my server.
Couldn’t watch the video, ‘only available for the UK’, I thought we had an extremely globalised world right now. 😉 Anyway, you look so brave in between al those men in black suits.
The programme is being repeated at 18:00 on Sunday 25 May on the BBC Parliament Channel (Freeview Ch 81) if you missed it.
I stayed up late on a school night to watch. I thought you spoke very well and sensibly unlike the so called ‘professional’ politicians who just tried to get their sound bites in. I suspect many people become MPs with good intentions (I’m an optimist!!!) but the system stinks. Stay as you are and give them hell from the outside 🙂
I was so pleased to see you were to be on QT but concerned when I saw the line up. However as usual you were the voice of reason and like a breath of fresh air amongst all the hot air…
Shame Neil Hamilton was allowed to hog the limelight, but no surprise as the BBC have given UKIP so much time on this programme compared to others, which is despicable and many people have officially complained about it.
We need more people like you who live in the real world and have common sense as well as intelligence. Keep up the good work..
By the way I am a member of a group on social media who get together to watch and comment on QT, sometimes in a rather cynical and satirical way, but you of course got full marks … Thank you..
Sadly anyone outside of the UK can’t watch this. I hope it went well!
Also, the talk about house prices rising very quickly, that doesn’t seem to be happening here in most of Scotland. Have been personally involved in selling and buying houses, in some cases the rents are higher than the mortgage repayments.
Will have to wait for non-UK access, but hope to see it soon.
Not able to watch overseas which is a big pity, though I expect you were marvelous as usual.
You made more sense and showed more intelligence than all of the politicians put together. You did really well on qt, but you don’t need me to tell you that. Wish there were more like you and Owen jones out there.
Yeah I wAtched I don’t like missing out heh I find a way awesome as usual every now and then I can still see myself sitting on the floor in despair I don’t know if that ever leaves you and the fact you’ve spoken about it …… I feel not so alone take care
You were very impressive. I never knew about you, but after QT I will be reading your blog etc… Keep up the good work! Thanks.
Jack, you were brilliant. The only person on the panel who managed to speak any sense regarding housing issues in the UK.
Became familiar with you through this Question Time and thought you presented yourself as a reasonable, rational and grounded person with a great sense of humour and an honest opinion. You’re an inspiration. I may even try some of your recipes now! 😀
Me and my other half were clapping and cheering at what you were saying! We don’t normally get that response to QT in our household – more likely to be heard shouting at the TV! You made sense (as always) and continue to be our inspiration – and not just for food!!
I posted a comment about house prices not being as high in Scotland, it is saying it is awaiting moderation?
You were absolutely lovely.
